HOW DO I WAIVE MY PAYMENT?
Where do I go to pay? You can either mail in your payment to 126 W. Main Street Madison, Ohio 44057 or you can pay in person.
What form of payment do you accept? We accept cash, check or money orders. Major credit cards are accepted (A $3.00 transaction fee will be added per Ordinance 33-2010)
Please make sure to sign the back side of the ticket where it states SIGNATURE OF DEFENDANT.
WHAT ARE MY PLEA OPTIONS?
The Plea options are as follows:
GUILTY: A plea of GUILTY is a complete admission of your guilt and the Court will immediately impose a fine and/or jail, as the Court determines appropriate.
NO CONTEST: A plea of NO CONTEST is not an admission of guilt, but is an admission of the truth of the facts alleged in the traffic citation or complaint and said plea or admission cannot be used against you in any subsequent civil or criminal proceeding. If the Magistrate determines from the facts alleged in the traffic citation or complain and from the police report that a crime has been committed, he/she will immediately enter a finding of guilty and will impose a fine and/or sentence.
NOT GUILTY: A plea of NOT GUILTY is a complete denial of your guilt and is the plea to be entered if you challenge the ticket or complaint in any regard, and are requesting a trial in your case. If you enter a plea of NOT GUILTY, the matter will be set for trial at a later date and you will be expected to appear at the time with your witnesses and evidence, if any, and be prepared to proceed with trial, with or without an attorney.
WHAT DO I DO IF I CANNOT MAKE MY PAYMENT BY MY COURT DATE?
If you cannot make your payment by your court date, you must appear for your scheduled court date. After the judge hears your case, we can establish a payment plan for you. There is an extra $15.00 charge that will be added to your court fines to do so.
WHAT IF I DO NOT SHOW UP FOR COURT?
Failure to appear may result in additional court fines, and the possibility of license suspension and/or a bench warrant being issued for your arrest.
WHAT TIME DOES MAYOR’S COURT START?
Mayor’s Court starts promptly at 6:00 p.m. We are on a first come, first serve basis however; if there are any trials they will be heard first. When checking in please make sure to have the following with you: Identification and proof of insurance if not previously provided.
WHERE DO I PAY MY TRAFFIC TICKET?
Pay in person at Village Hall. Located at 126 West Main. We accept cash, check or money order.
You can also mail in your payment as long as it is WAIVERABLE. If you are unsure if it is waiverable, please contact the Mayor’s Court at (440) 428-3522.
